Mya is a Regional Behavior Coach after completing her time as a doctoral student in Special Education at Clemson University. Prior to beginning her journey as a doctoral student, she worked as a speech language pathologist. The goal of her research is to explore how preservice and inservice teachers can be more equipped to use culturally responsive teaching practices. Additionally, her research aims to discover effective strategies for supporting families of color navigating special education in public schools. She received her bachelor’s degree from South Carolina State University and her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
